Social Impacts

Discuss the social impacts and ethical considerations associated with the use of embedded systems.

There are many social and ethical issues that derive from the use of embedded systems. These systems effectively make tasks that machines do, higher quality, or easier to use.

You could take the example, a simple one, of a car. Computer chips in cars improve fuel economy and control several parts of the car, including warning lights. The problems or issues relating to this is that not all car engineers are then able to repair these cars once a problem is discovered. It basically requires a degree in electrical engineering to be able to repair a car that has a computer chip.
